Each month, I join the ‘Bereavement, Grief and Loss; A space for journals, art and reflections’ space as a chance to pause, reflect, and explore the academic ideas that shape my work with clients. Through writing, art making, and creative expression, I can explore and process my own responses and notice how theory connects with the lived experiences I that encounter in my practice. What makes this space especially meaningful is the opportunity to share; our reflections, ideas, and artwork, with other professionals. In listening and being witnessed, I am able to gain new perspectives and feel a sense of connection that deepens my understanding of my work and my experiences. The space is not about creating something finished, but about cultivating curiosity, integration, and meaning within the art therapy community. The monthly rhythm provides a steady anchor, which helps to support me in remaining aligned, thoughtful, and responsive in my ongoing work with my bereaved clients.
